BENEVOLENCES
Experimental shorts. A series of two films on the notion of benevolence in 19th-century Europe. The project splits in two, a documentary on the Colonies of Benevolence in The Netherlands, and an experimental fiction inspired by the lives of orphans who stayed in Veenhuizen (1823-1859), one of such Dutch domestic colonies. The project is in development and has received support from CBK Rotterdam I&V Scheme 2024. Expected completion: Between January 2026 and December 2026.
SYMBIOTIC BITE
Feature Documentary ( > 60min) about the human-leeches relationship. A blend of history, anthropology, biology and philosophy. The film follows the medical leech, and its attached scientists and doctors. The early development and writing phase is supported by Mondriaan Funds. Expected completion from January 2027.
