F003 → Abidings

Abidings are 35mm hybride animations. Each film is based on animating a single 35mm photograph taken with a shutterless camera. Each photographs was made manually and focus on a simple subject: water, train, plants and sunset. They built upon my previous technical experiments with shutterless photography and continuous exposure in Abiding (2019). This method bypasses traditional film and photography techniques that rely on fragmentation processes. Instead, it embraces the flowing quality of light and life.

The series was presented at V2_Lab for the Unstable Media as part of my master’s graduation “The Gestures of Opening”, a research developped between 2018-2020 at The Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam.
