ABIDING is a silent experimental animation created from a single 35mm photograph using a shutterless camera. Through continuous exposure, technical disruption becomes an aesthetic of fluidity, allowing light, film, and bodily movement to shape the image. The process moves away from the controlled precision of conventional photography, making gesture and motion part of representation itself. Positioned between stillness and movement, photography and cinema, clarity and abstraction, Abiding explores how we perceive and construct images. By blurring distinctions of time and space, the film proposes a fluid understanding of experience; one in which confusion and blur are not failures of perception, but conditions through which change can be felt. Premiered at Ji.hlava International Film Festival 2019 with a Special Mention in Fascinations.
